The Los Angels Police Department (LAPD) is presented with the LEIU Special Achievement Award

The Los Angels Police Department was presented with the LEIU Special Achievement Award at the 2009 Awards Banquet at the Annual Conference in Las Vegas. The LAPD was one of 26 founding members of the LEIU in 1956, and has continually played a key role in its success. In that role, LAPD has not only been a leader in information sharing but a proponent of the professionalization of the intelligence community. It has also supported LEIU and its members by providing a Secretary/Treasurer to serve on the Executive Board. The organization has maintained our financial records for over 50 years. Leaders from LAPD serve on many national intelligence committees, including the Major Cities Chiefs Intelligence Commander’s Group, the LEIU Executive Board, and the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council. The Counter-terrorism and Criminal Intelligence Bureau at LAPD is recognized as being one of the most innovative law enforcement intelligence units in the nation. In summary, LAPD has not only been a trusted and valued information-sharing partner for over a half-century, they have served the entire law enforcement intelligence community through its leadership and dedication.
